To calculate the weight of your sheet metal, input your desired data below

Calculating the weight and stack height of your sheet metal inventory is highly important because it’ll help you define the best sheet metal storage rack system for your team.

This is why using the above calculator will help you gain a better idea of how much weight & stack heights your current sheet metal pallets are ordered in, as a result, your storage solutions will accommodate all your needs.

We recommend having your material purchased in quantities to not exceed the load rating for your Big Steel Rack racking system & pallets. If you have any questions or doubts, please go to our F.A.Q.

If you’re wondering, How to calculate the weight of sheet metal, you’re in the right place. Our calculator will do it for you, however, if you’re looking to do it yourself, here’s how to:

Firstly, you need the calculate the volume, you can do so by doing:
V = Width x Thickness x Length

 Then we need to know the density of the metal or alloy we’re working with, this is a set value, for example, mild metal has a density of 0.00785 g/mm3, We can then calculate the weight with:
Weight = Volume x Density x Conversion Factor

 The conversion factor in this formula talks about the system we’re using to input data, if we’re using inches, we need to convert the density to pounds/in, we can achieve so by multiplying by 36.13

Have in mind that this formula only works in the shape is a sheet.
